Moving Up to Lions
Scouting America Chipmunks is a pilot program for ages 4 and 5. When your child is old enough, you can move up to a Lion group in a pack. Moving up is always your choice.
Find it in the left menu: Chipmunks → Move Up to Lions.
Who can move up
Section titled “Who can move up”A child is ready to move up this fall when they are in kindergarten this fall or turn 5 by September 1. Each week MySummitKeep checks your Scurry. When your child is ready, you get a notice and an email that says a child in your Scurry may be ready. The email does not name your child.
Ask the pack to take you
Section titled “Ask the pack to take you”- Open Chipmunks → Move Up to Lions in the left menu.
- Find your child’s row. If your Scurry is linked to a pack, you see Join Pack N Lions.
- Select it. The pack’s leaders get an ordinary request to add you as a parent. It does not name your child.
- Optional: tick Also send me the pack’s news and events by email. You can unsubscribe at any time.
The pack’s leaders answer the request the way they answer any other. Until they do, your row reads Request sent.
What the pack knows
Section titled “What the pack knows”The pack’s leaders see that a parent from the linked Scurry wants to join. They also see one number on their settings page: how many children in the Scurry are expected to move up. They never see your child’s name, birth date or anything else about your family until you join and add your child yourself.
When the Scurry year ends
Section titled “When the Scurry year ends”The program year ends on August 31. From September 1, a child who has moved up no longer has a Scurry seat. Your own account stays.
