Photo Consent (Keep Or Withdraw Your Photos At 18)
When you were under 18, a parent or guardian could say your unit may publish photos of you. When you turn 18 that stops being their decision and becomes yours. Settings, Photo Consent is where you answer.

What happens when you turn 18
Section titled “What happens when you turn 18”- While you are a current member of the unit, we send you one notice (in the app, and by email if we have an address that only you use) at or after your 18th birthday, and one reminder 30 days later if you have not answered.
- Until you answer, nothing changes. Photos that were published stay as they are.
- You can answer in one click, and change your answer at any time.
Your two choices
Section titled “Your two choices”- Keep My Photos. The unit may keep showing the photos you appear in, as it does now. From this point the permission is yours, not your parent’s.
- Do Not Publish My Photos. The photos you appear in stop being shown publicly. The photo files are not deleted. They stay in the unit’s records, as photos always do when someone leaves a unit.
If you withdraw and later choose Keep My Photos, a unit leader has to approve each photo for public display again before it is shown.
What leaders see
Section titled “What leaders see”Leaders who review photos see a list of former Scouts who have been asked, with a status of Waiting For An Answer, Kept or Withdrawn. It shows names, the date they turned 18, how many photos they appear in, and whether a reminder was sent. It does not show email addresses, phone numbers or dates of birth.
Questions
Section titled “Questions”- Does this delete my photos? No. Withdrawing only stops them being shown publicly.
- Do I have to answer? No. Until you do, your photos keep their current visibility.
- I did not get an email. Open Settings, Photo Consent after signing in. If you share an email address with a younger family member we do not email it, so look for the notification in the app instead.
